September 11, 2024 – The North Grove’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Susan Mullin, President and CEO of the QEII Foundation was named Board Chair of the community hub at its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday.
“Susan brings an incredible breadth and depth of experience to The North Grove and we are thrilled to have her step into this role at a time when the organization is being called upon to do more and more to meet growing community need,” said past Board Chair Doug Townsend, co-owner of The Canteen on Portland.
The team praised Townsend for his leadership and steady hand during the critical years of the pandemic and the economic challenges that followed.
“Doug’s entrepreneurial spirit steered us through very choppy seas and helped us adapt at every turn,” says Executive Director Wendy Fraser. “He is a champion of the organization in so many ways, from helping us provide take-home meals during the pandemic to playing a key role in our end-of-year matching campaign. We are in awe of, and very appreciative of, his continued support.”
Townsend remains on the Board as past chair. Three other board members are joining Susan on the executive committee.
Shaune MacKinlay, Vice Chair: Shaune holds a special place in her heart for Dartmouth North. She is also the Chief of Staff to Mike Savage, the Mayor of Halifax.
Beth Grady, Secretary: The North Grove captured Beth’s heart when she was working as part of the construction team that brought the new space to life. She is now a Senior Project Manager for Colliers Project Leaders.
Idy Fashoranti, Treasurer: Idy is a respected director and consultant, with many years of experience in operations and accounting.
The North Grove would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to outgoing Board Member Nevell Provo. His experience as an entrepreneur and his passion for inspiring youth has been much appreciated throughout his two-year tenure.
“I’m incredibly proud and humbled to take over from Doug as Chair. The North Grove is truly engaged with the community of North Dartmouth, from its passionate staff and volunteers to its generous supporters,” says Susan Mullin, Chair of the Board.
